নরেন্দ্র মোদির রাজ্য গুজরাটের বন্যাবিধ্বস্ত জেলা বনাসকান্ঠা পরিদর্শনে গিয়ে আক্রান্ত কংগ্রেস সহ–সভাপতি রাহুল গান্ধী। জলমগ্ন ওই জেলার ধনেরিতে পাথর ছোঁড়া হয় রাহুলের গাড়ি লক্ষ্য করে। রাহুল অক্ষত থাকলেও পাথরের আঘাতে আহত হয়েছেন রাহুলের নিরাপত্তার দায়িত্বে থাকা স্পেশাল প্রোটেকশন গ্রপের এক অফিসার। ভেঙেছে একটি গাড়ির কাচ।
কংগ্রেসের দাবি, ওই গাড়িতেই ছিলেন রাহুল। তবে বনাসকান্ঠা পুলিস সুপার নীরজ বড়গুজর জানিয়েছেন, ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত গাড়িটিতে রাহুল ছিলেন না। রাহুলের কনভয়ে থাকা ওই গাড়িটিতে যাচ্ছিলেন কংগ্রেসের এক প্রাক্তন পঞ্চায়েত প্রধান এবং তাঁর কয়েকজন সহযোগী। রাহুলের কনভয়ে পাথর ছোঁড়ার জন্য এক সন্দেহভাজনকে পুলিস আটক করেছে বলেও তিনি জানিয়েছেন। আর কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রকের একটি সূত্র জানিয়েছে, ধনেরিতে রাহুলকে ‘বুলেটপ্রুফ’ গাড়িতে উঠতে অনুরোধ করা হয়েছিল নিরাপত্তা রক্ষীদের তরফে। কিন্তু রাহুল সেই অনুরোধ না শুনে একটি সাধারণ গাড়িতে উঠে পড়েছিলেন। তবে সেই গাড়িটিরই পিছনের কাচ ভেঙেছে কি না সেই বিষয়ে স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রকের কাছে কোনও তথ্য এখনও এসে পৌঁছয়নি। তবে রাহুল গান্ধীর মতো ভিভিআইপি–র কনভয়ে পাথর পড়ার ঘটনা যে নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থায় বিরাট গাফিলতির উদাহরণ, তাতে কোনও সংশয় নেই। গাফিলতি রাজ্য সরকারেরই হোক বা এসপিজি–র, দায় কোনওভাবেই এড়াতে পারছে না বিজেপি। কারণ, রাজ্য ও কেন্দ্র উভয় জায়গায় ক্ষমতায় রয়েছে ওই দলই।
